PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

Manage the day-to-day functions of shipments through the warehouse. Supervise a workforce of approximately 30 employees to ensure department service and performance goals are met. Evaluates shipping processes for effectiveness and make changes as required. Ensure regulatory compliance, safety for all personnel and proper utilization of all required PPE. Follow food safety requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate loading and shipping of finished products, reviewing orders for accuracy, maintaining accurate inventories, and implementing best practices for pleasing export and domestic customers.
  • Institute cold storage policy and procedures to ensure efficient operation and maintain produce quality
  • Manage shipping office, staffing accordingly during peak production, developing schedules to ensure coverage and minimize overtime of clerks and forklift operators.
  • Contributing member of safety team responsible for forklift safety trainings and compliance with company and regulatory rules, laws, and policies.
  • Management of company truck drivers, ensuring safe operation of fleet and compliance with CHP BIT program.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High School Diploma and experience in sophisticated shipping/warehousing atmosphere with increasing levels of responsibility.  3-5 years managerial experience in distribution or food processing. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

Preferred Skills

Self-motivated leader who wants to grow with an expanding company.  Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).   Skilled in change management or process improvement. Independently identify operational deficiencies and take action to improve.
